Mernda Carols
Mernda is a new part of the Melbourne urban sprawl. The new community, with the help of the Salvation Army and loads of other local churches, came together for a barbecue and carols at the Mernda Primary School. The "summer time" sun was particularly intensive on everybody facing the singers and it was accepted along with the outer suburban lifestyle. The parents relaxed, listened to the singers at the front and let their kids move about with their friends. Some sang along and some just listened.
We were there for the first time because Barb had joined the Mernda Singing Group. They got up twice to do their bit in the program. It was nice seeing Barb up there in the group. We met a few friends from the past and Barb was thanked for coming by people we didn't know. A community event for sure.
