Grandkids Overnight

We had the pleasure of housing our three grandkids for the night. We did heaps, including the obligatory trip to Savers where Piper tried on that helmet. It was way too heavy she told us. We watched Jaz play soccer again and it was cold as. Jaz and Mon christened the Lego chess set. We watched the DVD 'Bedtime Stories'. Then it was back to Gembrook and some refreshments along the way. We saw the advanced stage of the kitchen renovation, had a lovely lunch, and witnessed an exploding collection of laced up pop-sticks prepared by Jaz. Impressive. I very precious series of memories.

Ender Dragons at Whittlesea

Peter let anyone who came have an Ender Dragon kit until there was none left (x 22) and the woodcraft session went OK considering the degree of difficulty. He had to help many of the younger ones. The older children did well managing the sliding glue issues and attaching the wings. In the process, Peter noted a more successful way of attaching the wings that he will adopt next time.

Ender Creatures at Tallarook

The kids made Ender Men or Ender Dragons depending on their age (their potential skill level). It was just as well Peter did that because the dragon was much harder and there would have been a lot of unhappy younger ones had they been given them to make. The Enda Man was just right for Preps and Grade one level.

Lego Illusions

We are amazed with what Lego has devised to partner with a sales brochure it has produced recently. With the right ap on a smart phone which can recognise the page an instant download will provide moving structures that relate to the open page. We are able to see the brochure and our kitchen table plus the moving illusion. What will marketing brains think of next?

To really appreciate what we are talking about watch our clumsy video capturing many of the illusions HERE.

Jasper Nine

We had the pleasure of watching Jaz play soccer with his team this weekend. The score at full time was 1:1. Afterward we all went to a cafe for a treat. Lunch was at Gembrook. Our gift to Jaz was a new soccer ball to replace his lost one. In the afternoon there was plenty of backyard soccer and Peter, for one, was pretty exhausted. Jaz could have run about for hours more. Fortunately another of Jaz's gifts was a battery powered helicopter and he would practice flying it till he had to recharge the battery again. A video of one of the flights can be accessed HERE. Bec and Gord gave Jaz a 21 speed bike and he showed us his riding skills. There was the obligatory birthday cake and a video of the blowing out of the candles can be found HERE. Piper added to her ancient history project and Jet joined in with soccer and later tried 'bobbing for apples' out of a bucket of water. It was very funny. The day was full for us and we came away with wonderful memories of it.
