Chinese New Year

Vietnamese friends invited us to their family's Chinese New Year celebration banquet. Bec and their three young ones were also willing to drive into the city suburbs and join us. As usual there was absolutely too much food and it was very tasty and exotic. Piper got the hang of chopsticks. The boys rearranged the garden stones afterward when they were done with banqueting. It was a wonderful day of mixed cultures and shared stories. In the process the kids were recipients of many 'lucky money' envelopes which was pretty fun for them. There was a lot of lucky money moving about between the families there that the economy may not have altered much... except that a lot of money became extra special and in the hands of kids!

Bush Cockatoos

We stopped at the Stonehouse Cafe at Warrandyte for a cuppa and to watch the Sulfur-crested Cockatoos. It seems that these birds flock here 365 days of the year. That kind of restful moment is such a blessing.

Jasper's scooter skills

Peter had an opportunity to video Jasper at Gembrook Skatepark. Jasper willingly obliged and sped about making it quite a challenge for Peter to follow him with his camera. The video can be found HERE.

Peter's Birthday in Gembrook

Barb made a no-cook cake for Peter's birthday. It even had avocado in the mix. We transported it to Gembrook in a cold-pack to share with family there. It was a special day for loads of reasons and Peter's birthday comes in second or third. Be that as it may, here are some of the moments. Gord baked a meal for us in the outside pizza oven (a first) and we shared the cake after that. It was a relaxed time. Very low key.

Prophetic Coffee

Barb started to share what she knew of Heidi Baker's African mission experiences and this image began to appear in Peter's long black. Impressive connection. It was at another brunch moment with our son Dan.

Hill Rolling

We had a delightful afternoon with the Funks last Sunday. We met at Federation Square and after stopping at a cafe, we went to a nice spot nearby to play. There was a grassy slope there and all three grandkids made full use of it as child do when they see an inviting slope to roll and run down. We captured the fun on video and you can click HERE to view it at your leisure.
