Footy Cricket Transition

We joined with the Funks to watch the grand final in Melbourne between a West Australian team Freemantle and an eastern suburbs team Hawthorn. Our own teams were knocked out weeks earlier so we did not really have any leaning... except most of us were attracted to "Freo" taking its first premiership. Unfortunately this was not to be and we watched loads of misses (more of them by Freo) which produced some amount of frustration. So much so that it was not at all surprising that some of us would occasionally go out to the back yard to play on the trampoline or have a hit of cricket as shown below. Yes the cricket season jumps in about now and Jasper has been loaned a bat and a set of wickets. Gord flashed up the outside pizza oven and this was ready and hot for after the footy match. We made up four families... a nice mix... a nice day.

Our Garden

This is to record and remember this year's Spring start at our place. It is a nice thing to walk about our yard to snap away at any plant that looks excited about the new season. The combo picture has a nice patchwork look as well.

September Market

On the third Saturday of each month in Whittlesea a special market happens with plenty of community atmosphere. This market has received a new injection of community interest through the move from the Showgrounds back to where it originated at the Secondary College. We are all very encouraged to see this transpire. Everything needed to fall into place perfectly including good weather and that was the way it went.

So far the additional attraction for the market has been two classic car clubs. We are not sure what the attraction will be for the month of October, but whatever happens the people coming and the vibes of the good natured stall holders add magic to the day. Peter loves the classic chrome look - and the polish - as you can see below.

Minecraft Puppets

This school's Woodcraft Club has had an invasion of Minecraft puppet, probably over 40 so far and there are still requests for more such kits. The pieces to assemble are not hard to cut, being so blocky and simple, so Peter is able to make up to a dozen kits at a time, and have these ready for the following Woodcraft Club. The children who have made one already are now a resource to help others through the tricky parts in the project, like the gluing on of the paper 'skin'. When finished, the "Steves" and the "Zombies" look just how the characters are seen in the Minecraft computer game that seems to be known by all at the school. Just Google 'Minecraft' and you'll see.

Fathers Day

On the first day of Spring (September) we joined with the Funks for a shared Fathers Day celebration in the relaxed atmosphere of their home at Gembrook. It was a very nice day to boot. The rest of the pictures share some of the day's story... finishing with a few family photos taken on Bec and Gord's camera.
