While we were there, three new laying hens arrived for John and Madonna. The fellow who brought them promotes traditional breeds and talked passionately about how the hybrid chooks will only lay for a few years and that was it. Jibbed! It is good that there is a move back to caring for and preserving the good stuff of the past. Madonna is pleased as punch as she watched the new chooks settling in.
