Billy Cart Continued
This is a continuing story from last month's post about a pallet-style billy cart. The project has grown to include a trailer, even to have it painted, and then a canopy over the billy cart to give it a pioneer wagon look. Peter is not sure where this story goes. The billy cart has been measured so there is a chance that the student involved could make a scale model. The success of this project will depend on the student's willingness to engage that way.
Student Staff Footy
It's not every day that Peter gets totally 'crashed into', but the mark (catch) he took stayed firmly in his clutches and he had the free kick when he got up from the grass. Peter was good natured about it. He now has a bruised thigh out of it but that is all. His reflections go like this: thank goodness it was him and not a student who had the other teacher land on him, and what a curious experience to feel totally in God's hands, disoriented, going to the ground so suddenly, and even having the opportunity to remember childhood and high school experiences that were similar. It was a pretty intense match, this annual student/staff footy game at Whittlesea, and believe it or not the same teacher bowled Peter over twice that game. They really are good friends. The teacher changes from calm to amazingly competitive on that one occasion each year. The teachers won the match by just a point much to the student's dismay.
Nice Stir Fry
This is an attempt at sharing how we cook a stir fry. We add a variety of vegetables plus some chopped chilli (and a sprinkling of meat) into a very hot pan with coconut oil and progressively add less robust vegetables finishing with broccoli heads and mushrooms before dropping in leafy greens for a very short time. The bowls are in a queue, ready for adding in. We also add a generous sprinkling of herbs and Himalayan salt. Sometimes we give ourselves a treat by adding half a can of coconut cream and stir it in before adding the last of the leafy greens. Not counting the chopping up time, the cooking takes about 20 minutes. We add this mix to a base of steamed rice made earlier.
School Assembly
This magic picture shows Whittlesea Primary School weekly assembly watching snapshots of the previous week on the screen. Some parents are seated at the back and teachers stand against the side walls of the gym. This picture shows a special moment of intense focus, when students wonder whether they will chance to see themselves in the quickly flashing images. Sometimes there is clapping to the accompanying music especially if it has a bouncy rhythm.
Spring Market
The Whittlesea Chaplaincy Committee had a fairly successful Spring Market day a few Saturdays ago. It's getting harder for markets to do well given that they are springing up everywhere, fundraising for something. The day was perfect and many more locals came along to check it out. The funds raised for this market help support the chaplaincy program at both the local primary school and the local secondary college and has been doing this for over 20 years in Whittlesea.
Baby Shower
Arnny and Dan had their baby shower last weekend and turned on a massive event. A lot of people joined in on the fun and many stayed afterward to clean up the community hall at Wallert. People might think that baby showers are for women folk, but not so this one - it had everything including a photo booth set up. The first four snaps came from that busy machine. Lots of family and lots of memories shared.

Whittlesea Trophies
One of the students asked Peter, 'What about a trophy?' and Peter took it on as a challenge. There was enough thick dowel and matching thick cardboard tubes. These could be docked. In the right combination a fairly good looking trophy is assembled. The handles were cut from lighter card. Not everyone made trophies with the kits.
