End of Term Reflections

At the end of term it is helpful to reflect on organised programs that directly relate to Peter's role at the school. There are three that have happened at the school this term, shown above in the Easter egg shapes. These programs have been well received by the children who have participated in them.
The centre picture is the new program, one of many new ‘clubs’ introduced this term: Drawing Club. Peter offers basic drawing equipment including shape templates and lets them work on whatever they want. He will try different things as the opportunities present themselves but for the moment he just watches and encourages.
The picture on the left shows the Breakfast Club in action. Peter and a group of volunteers from the local community, under the banner of Scripture Union Victoria, come in each Wednesday morning before school to make this happen. Each week this term they have conducted a ‘guess the marbles in the jar’ competition and the winning child for that week receives a marble bag prize at the following breakfast.
The picture on the right shows the now four year old Woodcraft Club, scaled back to once a week (Wednesdays first recess) and is still popular. From time to time Peter will specially cut up wooden pieces to make a range of kits for assembly, and the children love those weeks. On weeks when there are no kits available children glue together whatever they like from the trays on a flat board and some very remarkable wooden shapes emerge.
Peter hopes these programs continue smoothly throughout term two.
