This picture shows why the marathon route is awkward. It has to promote the host city as well as it can, making every view of the race a tourist postcard. Hmmm.
The opening and closing ceremonies of each Olympic Games is always a fascinating extravaganza of light and sound making. Hopefully the designers are happy with their feedback. The special effects were quite magical. Well done London. If there were any problems, we never saw them.
