Daniel Bon-Voyage

Before Dan left we made sure we caught him to properly say our good-bye's before his European trip. And what better place to catch him but during his work shift. He was able to come out for a short chat. It was a nice memory moment for us. All the very best on your trip Dan and Arnie.

Showcase Day

This week Tallarook Primary School celebrated some of it literary and historical research skills at the local Mechanics Institute Hall. It was a grand occasion with the Mayer of the local municipality giving a short speech. Many parents were there to see the work and their children were glad and proud to show it to them.

Menergy 2015

Peter is again involved in Menergy Men's Gathering in Victoria (in October). To find out more about this important work for men visit the Menergy site. On this September day, Peter joined with men who will all be small group facilitators at the gathering for a bit of fellowship and sharing of important info. It was a very positive time, important for co-leading with other men, working towards the authentic heart within. This year's gathering already has 140 men listed to attend. How awesome is that!

Mernda Singers

Barb is one of the Mernda Singers an amateur group that sings just because they really like it. They meet once a week to practice in Mernda, hence the name. They were asked by the organisers to sing at a community charity event just past. The first song that they sang was Blue Moon, a 1930's song and a video caught the action with reasonable sound as well. It can be viewed HERE. Enjoy.

Grandkids

These past days our three grandkids have stayed over in our neck of the woods. Some of their 'entertainment' has been DVD movies, a solid bike ride, a play in a park (pictured), and an excursion to Savers. Fun for them and fun for us too.

Book Week Dressup Day

Kids love dressing up and so do teachers. Peter had a fun day when Tallarook PS celebrated book week inviting everybody to dress as a character in a book (and preferably bring the book to prove it). There was a morning parade before school to show off the costumes at their best and for the rest of the day they could remove the more cumbersome attachments if there were any. Lots of cameras were out. Some students take this very seriously indeed.

Model Buildings at 1:20

Peter has been leading a small group of grade 3 boys in a miniature house building project. Each is making his own house in 1:20 scale with an focus on making it the way builders are required to make real houses. These are simple one room cottages to keep the material cost to a manageable level. The boys have had fun building a bit each week and adding furniture and fittings to it as the items become available. In a few weeks there will be a follow up blog showing the conclusion with at the roof stage. They then take their models home.

Miniature Village

Peter wishes to praise the sensitivity and creativity of a small number of boys of all levels at Tallarook PS. They started was was going to be an inspiring miniature village in an out of the way place at their school. Unfortunately somebody totally destroyed it and did it again when it was in a state of partial repair. There are quite a number of students who love this sort of play, and unfortunately there is one who is bent on destruction when nobody is looking.
