In the middle of August, Peter went on a hike with three other men. The 11 Km hike turned into a 21 Km one due to missing an important turn (they were following a written description). They were supposed to go back along Stringybark Tk but missed it! and found themselves walking under the high voltage power lines for a long way. They had that sinking feeling that something was wrong. Eventually they decided to "bush-bash" to where the car was. That seemed better than retracing their steps and climbing back over a particularly large hill. This last part through the raw bush was the most exciting part and involved crossing Island Creek with the help of a fallen tree across it. Better that than wet their mobile phones. They were all chuffed to find their car in view when they broke through to the road. Pictures below.

Sketch Canada
Peter brought his sketch book with him on our trip to Canada. He drew a mixture of things from family members to tourist looking scenes. It was nice to bring the book and do some. Kymberly has that one of herself and baby Parker (above) and the gazebo interior further down as gifts. The rest travel out of sight in a sketch journal which is the fate of most of them. Posting these helps to share them and each tells their own story.
This mount overlooked us for four camping days in Banff
The wonderful and family famous Fairmond Hot Springs pool
A new farm gazebo to relax the summer away
Famous Lake Louise, done with carbon pencil (EE) in an attempt to get those subtle tones
Lake Louise Hotel
a bit more of the Lake Louise area
Piper's drawing in Peter's sketchbook: a delightful rendering of mother wolf and her cubs, safe in a cave
