Celebratory Meal

The Funks prepared a mini banquet for us when we visited them last. It was sort of connected to Peter’s being endorsed as a state school chaplain and also because it is a great thing to do whenever we come together. We brought the organic wine and Bec created a classy selection of dishes. There was something for everyone. These random pics below record some of this.

We must mention Bec’s perfect pumpkin pie, Mennonite style. If we did not know better we would have believed it has been specially flown in from Canada for the occasion.

Then there were the steps towards bed for the kids. Bec has taken to brushing Jasper’s teach very carefully. He does not mind it in the least, open mouth, yes wider, look up, hold still. Jethro sits on the sink bench bemused, playing with his toothbrush. Maybe he’ll have cleaning teeth fun like his big brother.

After that it is story time. One us reads from a chosen book. After that is done to their satisfaction or with parental determining, they are allowed to sit in bed and flick through books for a time. Piper and Jasper are together, and Jethro is in Bec and Gord’s room. Soon a quietness descends.

Greensie Brunch

This is just another time we picked up Dan and did the brunch thing with him. We have good chats and it is a bit of a tonic for each of us.

Endorsed

Peter wishes to announce that ACCESS Ministries, as chaplaincy provider for Victorian state schools, has endorsed him as a school chaplain, and should a chaplaincy position become available nearby, he will be eligible to apply along with others for that position. This is indeed good news. It represents the culmination of eight years of academic work, during which Peter found God’s call more and more amongst children. The kind and gracious words of Peter’s referees played no small part. More on this topic as events unfold.

Daily therapy of the straw

Our Magna Carter shakes at its core

We are under the water and needing more

Straws for those who are under drowning

Wanting help to contend with the clowning

.

Rescuers become persecutors if allowed to burn

They feel the heat and go to sleep in their turn

Passing the buck to others on fire

Filo and salad kindly served our desire

.

There is not much rope and life lines few

Our aroma mixed with poison anew

And some of it sticks so we go to recoup

We need space to talk over a bowl of hot soup

.

Drinking flat white down with the leaf undisturbed

Sucking under and leaving the outer preserved

Sunken image a delicate sign of our state

Tuscan beans are very broad on the plate

.

Dripping lemon juice over crusty bread

Buying a book and enjoying the spread

Watching hanging birds in clear glass frames

A Sleeping Brolga and flying Ibis amongst other names

.

A hanging Honey Sucker too expensive for us

We buy recipes and healing scripts as such

Ways to wash revenge that seems to stay

We draw this straw of breath today

Abigail Montana

Abigail has always loved dancing, acting and being a cool kid up with the latest, so discovering Hanna Montana was just a small extension for her. With her birthday money she purchased a full head of Montana hair complete with tips. Now she looks the part!

Will the real Hanna Montana stand up. Is that her real hear or has she obtained that look just as Abigail did?

City Patterns

The day we went to the city was fine and the air fresh. It was the perfect day to visit it. The shapes and patterns the buildings make are always fascinating for snap happy Peter.

Morning Web Evening Glow

These are simple memories of a winter day in Mill Park. Have camera, will take. Nature and grandeur are food for the soul. There is no end for the discerning appreciating eye.

Spain Celebrates

It would be pretty amazing to be in the streets of Madrid these next few days. The euphoria will probably be hard to imagine unless you are there. Well done to South Africa. The good team won the beautiful game for 2010 and we can all get some sleep!

Care a thought for Paul the psychic octopus who has successfully predicted the outcome of five FIFA matches in a row! He may now be close to retirement age, being on the way to the age of three, but here may be more from him before he is done. He has become a celebrity and raises interesting theological questions. Like, where does God fit into all this or does God care? Could all this be a trap for those attracted to psychic phenomena? Anyway, we shall see.

Hearts

Barb is always on the lookout for hearts. This puddle took the cake. The heart must be one of the most available natural shapes on the planet when it is all said and done.

Foam Fountain

This happens occasionally. Wherever there is falling water there is a risk that someone will drop in a little soap powder just for a lark, as was the case in Eltham just recently. Maybe those guys caught on camera are the culprits.
